Electric Vehicle Charging

The City is committed to working towards net zero emissions as an organisation. This includes supporting the community's contributions to overall emissions reductions by providing convenient City of Perth Parking Electric Vehicle (EV) charging stations for our residents and visitors to use.

Free Electric Vehicle Charging with paid parking

Electric Vehicle charging facilities are available in the below car parks:

Boom gate entry car parks: Citiplace, Convention Centre, Council House, Cultural Centre, Elder Street, His Majesty's, Mayfair Street, Pier Street, Regal Place, Roe Street, and State Library.

There is a dedicated Electric Vehicle bay in each of the following car parks: Elder Street, Pier Street and Convention Centre car parks. These facilities have 15-amp outlets and are suitable for most Australian electric vehicles. Only electric vehicles can be parked in a dedicated electric vehicle bay and must be actively charging.

Electric Vehicle charging facilities in other car parks are 32 Amp 3 Phase outlets. These are dedicated electric vehicle bays and must be actively charging.

At present no cost to use these EV chargers, only the parking fee is payable.

Paid Electric Vehicle Charging with paid parking

As part of a twelve-month trial commencing 31 March 2025, the City has installed seven electric vehicle (EV) chargers across the City. These EV chargers are in the below locations:

On-street parking bays: Parker Street in Northbridge, Nelson Crescent in East Perth, 10 Royal Street in East Perth, and opposite 132 Terrace Road in Perth.

These chargers are AC 3 phase, 22kW, 32 Amp 'level 2' chargers. A fee of 45 cents per KW/h inc GST is applicable, plus a service fee from ChargeHub and the cost of parking. The service fee goes to ChargeHub, not the City of Perth.
