Parking Restrictions

Parking restrictions in the City of Perth may be 10 minute, 15 minute, half an hour, one, two, three or four hours, however they all apply Monday to Saturday from 8am to 6pm. This may be over-ridden where there is a clearway, e.g. Adelaide Terrace, or is a  bus zone at certain times, e.g Pier Street south.

No fee payable or time restrictions apply on Public Holidays.

Clearways usually run from 7.30 to 9am and/or 4.15 to 6pm, Monday to Friday, however it is important to read the signs as there are some clearways that have different times.

There are many exceptions to the Monday – Saturday standard, however. In some parts of East Perth and West Perth, restrictions only apply Monday to Friday, while in the tourist precinct of Barrack Square and Riverside Drive, restrictions apply seven days per week.

Under the terms of the City of Perth Parking Local Law 2010;

  • It is illegal to “feed” a meter or ticket machine beyond the time restriction shown on the signage.
  • At the end of the time restriction, the vehicle must be moved past another road that meets or intersects the road.
  • The vehicle may not return to the same section of road for at least one hour.
